barkeranddjamVintage t-shirts bring back what is glorious about the oldschool. It represents times of hardship, triumph, and hustle. Even more so than today t-shirts were a canvas to express and inspire. As a connisseur or simply someone who can’t get enough of a good thing, I am inspired almost everyday. I think that’s what life is all about, doing what you love and loving what you do.

The inspiration for this post comes from the dynamic duo that was Adam Goldstein (DJ AM) and Travis Barker. Both of them not only inspire you to be great, but to overcome. There’s nothing more admirable than talent, a natural ability to entertain through ones personal skill.

To see what I am layin down, check out the video in the previous post. No words are even necessary.

Unfortunately we lost DJ AM to a drug overdose nearly five months ago, but like a vintage tee these two represent the hardship, triumph, and hustle that I speak of. It is well-known in the vintage and sneakerhead worlds what a huge collector Adam was. From Milli Vanilli to Eric B and Rakim he probably had tees you’ve only dreamt up. Simply someone who appreciated where he was and what came before him. To read more information about his collection you gotta check out the Defunkd Blog. There is a candid interview in there done by Jimmy J himself that is pretty ground-breaking if you ask me.

gucciteeWe also happened to swoop this amazing Gucci t-shirt up today from the late 80s. I’m not saying we were traveling through time, but rather the tee is actually a couple decades old. Anyway, that’s part of the inspiration to the post. We know DJ AM had a few or more Gucci tees stashed in his collection. We also remember Defunkd doing an auction to help benefit the DJ AM Memorial Fund where they sold a 1988 Eric B & Rakim Paid In Full tee – one of the sickest tees around – for $244.50. No doubt.

So, we currently have something in the works to benefit the fund and pay tribute to that which inspires. Stay tuned, because if your mouth is frothing over this tee you will have the opportunity to add it to your very own wardrobe as soon as we get things squared away.
